NIU Student Resources

NIU students have access to many resources that will help with their academic career and their personal life.

Mental Health Support

If you’re feeling anxious or stressed out about school or your personal life, our Counseling and Consultation Services staff is well-trained to listen and provide support.

Academic Assistance

  • If you’re struggling with the content of a course, a good first step is to contact your professor. You can talk with them after class, send them an email or meet with them during office hours.

‘ Your academic advisor is another great resource. They can help you set goals, understand academic requirements and guide you in course selection. Schedule an appointment with them every semester using the Navigate Student app.

Here are some options for when you need more help:

Financial Advising

Understanding financial aid and managing your own finances can be difficult. Student Financial Advising Services can help you interpret financial aid, plan for tuition and fee costs, and gain general financial skills to help you in college and beyond.
